After
Out at last, and not too happy about being man-handled around the room. It felt like pass-the-parcel, but fortunately they didn't strip a layer of my clothes off each time! I wasn't in a good mood because the doctors and nurses had just stuck lots of tubes up my nose and in my stomach. It was like a scene from ER and at the same time I think that my dad's contact lenses were causing problems. This, and the next few days that we spent at the hospital made my dad want to be a doctor.
This is my Grandfather. It's his fault that my hair is a bit gingery.
This is my Grandmother, Naila; my auntie, Zeynab (Zindoosh or Googy); and my uncle Oguzhan (Osha or 'Ku'). My grandmother lives in Baku (Azerbaijan) and my uncle and auntie live in Istanbul (Turkey). Should be some good holidays there in the future! From the evidence so far, I am obviously blessed with good genes and should be a bit of a stunner once the swellings reduce!
This was my favourite bit - a cuddle with my mum.
This is Sarah Hooper. She helped me come in to the world and made sure that the doctors were quickly able to sort me out. Her care and support made my dad want to be a midwife!
This is my face. Everyone says the same thing: "He's not very good looking is he.......and doesn't he look like his father!" My name is Altay (rhymes with 'sky'). It is an Azeri name proposed by my Grandfather in Baku. I was born at 15h09 on Saturday 22nd April 2000. I weighed 7lb 2Oz (or 3.220 Kg).
